We celebrated Aidan's second birthday a couple of weeks ago! I can not believe he is already 2. Aidan is the most loving little boy I have ever met. He is such a good natured little boy who loves to be loved. He likes to keep things interesting, so he knows how to have a tantrum every now and then too though!! I love him so much, and must say that unless you have a child of your own, you have no idea what it is like to love someone so much! He makes every day so special, and I am so thankful for every day that I get to spend with him. He has "made" our family, and I can't even remember what life was like 2+ years ago (and I don't want to!). We love taking him to new places, and experiencing things with him. It is amazing watching him explore/learn something brand new. When you stop to think about what life must be like from his perspective, it is almost overwhelming. I catch him watching us and other people so many times. He just sits back, takes it all in, and then remembers everything he just saw. One of the most vivid memories I have of him doing this happened when he was really young, and he sat in his highchair watching me load the dishwasher. He was so intent on watching my every move and he didn't take his eyes off me the whole time. Next thing I know, he knows how to load the dishwasher, add the detergent, lock it, and turn it on! Those types of things blow my mind! It seems like I waited forever for him to say "mama." Now that is the sweetest sound in the world. When he wakes up and starts calling "mama" from his room, I don't care what time it is or how I feel! I just want to see and hold him! It is funny how we miss him when he goes to bed at night! The house just doesn't feel right without him running around and playing! Aidan turning 2 has been a little rough on me because it made me realize how fast time has gone by. I am away from him so many hours of the day that sometimes I feel like I am missing so much. I try to tell myself that it isn't always about the quantity of time, but the quality of what I do have with him. I am sure since I have had three whole days with him over this long weekend, that tomorrow will be rough! :)
Okay, so back to the birthday! Aidan loves tractors and anything related to a farm so he had a John Deere themed party. I made him a tractor cake, and he had hotdogs and hamburgers. He loves hotdogs! Mama, Daddy, Rick, Leigh, Laura and Eddie came over to celebrate with us. He had a great time, and loved his new tractor. He hasn't gotten to ride on it very much yet because of the weather, but since Fall is just around the corner he should get in a lot of practice!
Two year stats:
29 lbs (50th percentile-keep in mind he was in the 97th when he was a baby!!)
33 '' (50th percentile)
Happy birthday Aidan! We love you!
