Labor Day Weekend

We went to visit Andy's mom and dad over Labor Day Weekend, and celebrated Aidan's birthday again! He likes the attention of course! We bought Aidan a portable DVD player, so the trip up was a breeze! Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it!), he chewed his passy just about the whole trip! By the time we got there, it would never be the same again! We had been wanting to break him of it, but didn't want to do it at the same time as starting preschool for fear it would be too much change at once. Timing is everything! Aidan did not get a "real" nap that afternoon and not having the passy had a lot to do with it. Then his first night without passy happened away from home, in a different bed, and on a night when Aidan was way over-tired! It was pretty rough! We survived and Aidan now only uses passy to hold every once in a while (it is not suitable for his mouth and he agrees!). He picks it up, tells us it is broke, and then tells us it needs to go in the trash. Of course, he doesn't follow through with that last one!

Aidan got to eat birthday cake ice cream and opened more gifts! Our timing was off so we didn't get to visit with Mark and Martha, and the boys didn't get to play together. We did get to go out to eat (which we try to always do while we are up there) to the Chinese buffet. Aidan was great and ate really good too. Give him noodles and he is happy, even if they are Chinese!

We also got to meet the newest member of the family, Zack. Zack is Andy's mom and dad's new puppy. Very cute, and sweet but his ears are bigger than the rest of him! Too cute! He and Aidan got along well, and I think it was good for Aidan to be around a puppy. He will hopefully have his own in the next few years. Drake and Major got along fine with him too, but their reactions were the opposite of what I was expecting. I thought Drake would be really protective of Aidan and Major wouldn't care so much (just because of the difference in their personalities). They were both protective of him, but Major much more so than I thought. He kept putting himself between Zack and Aidan, and made sure he was taken care of. With all of the health issues Major has had and everything he has been through, I was happy to see him react this way and show how much he really does like Aidan! He normally wouldn't let you know he cared!
