Zoo

Last weekend since the weather was so nice we decided to take Aidan to the zoo. We weren't sure how he would hold up since it takes so long to make it through the whole place, but he did great and loved it. We took the stroller which I don't think I have used in more than a year. Boy am I glad I held onto it! It gave him breaks when he needed it, and allowed him to have a more enjoyable trip. We took Wann with us and we all had a great time. We weren't completely prepared and didn't have any of our cameras charged (it was kind of spur of the moment.....at least for us!). Were able to get a few pics though.

We followed the advice on their website and parked at North America, took the bus to the junction, and started in Africa. Then when we finished with Africa it was time for lunch and we were back at the junction. It was a much needed break for everyone, and we were all refreshed and ready for North America. As is probably the case with most people, our favorite part was seeing the giraffes. They weren't really visible when we first got there, so we went to see other animals and then stopped back by. They were right at the new feeding deck, so we were able to get really close. Aidan and I got to feed them leaves. Aidan was completely relaxed and walked right up to it (eye level with him!!!!!), and handed him the leaves. He acted just like he would if he were giving the dogs a treat! He fed him 3 or 4 times, and later on told us that was his favorite part!!! Made my day! All week, Aidan kept saying he wanted to go back to the zoo!!!! We hope to be able to make it back another time or two before we have to renew our membership in the Spring. A short drive and you feel like you are literally in another place! A good break!
