Veggie Tales Live

The Veggie Tales put on a show at a local church last week, so we took Aidan to see them. He loves listening to their CDs and watching their movies. His favorite songs are the theme song and Barbara Manatee. The show started at 7 and doors opened at 6. We wanted to make sure we were able to get a good seat so that Aidan could really see what was going on so we got there around 5:15 (after eating supper at Chick Fil A!!!!). He had not had a nap that day which meant things could get bad really fast, so we were a little concerned. We sat in the car for about 20 minutes and then went on inside to get in line. They had some little wand thing that lit up and it seemed to be the "hot" item. Every kid had one, and Aidan wanted one too. $10!!!!!!!!!!! For a piece of plastic with a light bulb in it! :) It made Aidan very happy, and I am sure we would have ended up buying one half way through the show anyway. Those parents who chose not to buy one at the beginning, went back later on to get one! It was cool to them to see it light up in the dark. After we got in, we still had another hour to wait before the show started. Again, Aidan had not had a nap and was very tired. They showed Veggie clips during the wait, so that helped entertain him. Once the show did start, there were technical difficulties which resulted in Bob coming out to sing, and the music stopping after the third line. Funny the first time it happened, but not so much the second time. The lights came on, and we got to wait again while they got everything worked out. We were a little nervous about how long that would take, and what would happen if they couldn't get it fixed?!?!!?!?!? Fortunately, it only took about 10 minutes and we were good to go. When Bob walked out on the stage Aidan's whole face lit up! We tried to tell him he was going to see the Veggie Tales, but he just couldn't comprehend that they were going to be real!!!! I was almost in tears because of how happy he was. This was the exact reason we wanted to take him! He was so excited. He wouldn't really dance, but he did sing and he liked for me to clap his hands with the music. As is the case with most things, we really only enjoyed the songs we already knew, but the whole show was really entertaining. After intermission (after 8), Aidan had really started to slow down and was actually trying to lay down in my lap. I thought about leaving at that point, but wanted to give him a little more time. It was a good thing, because Barbara Manatee was next. He perked up, and again, was so happy! Then he started dozing off in my lap and I knew we needed to go ahead and leave. It was about 8:30 at this time, and there was only about 10 minutes left (2 songs). We got in the car and got about 10 minutes down the road, and he was out. Didn't wake up until the next morning! All of the staff at the church were fantastic and so nice and friendly from the time we got there until we left. We all had a wonderful time, and having such nice people made all the difference!
