The month of August is always really hectic for me and it seems like this entire summer has been that way. That usually means I get to spend even less time with Aidan. One Saturday in August I had to spend the day at a meeting for work. Enjoyed the meeting, but didn't enjoy being away from Aidan. I had worked late almost every night that week and just didn't feel like I had gotten to see him at all. Not a pleasant feeling at all! Andy and I both decided that my continuing to work full time was the best thing for our family, but that doesn't make it any easier!!!! I miss Aidan so much! This particular week/weekend I was having a pretty rough time, so we decided to spend the whole day together doing something fun with Aidan. We took him back to Hillridge Farms. It was very funny how quiet it was! There were only about 5 other families there. It was like a ghost town! It didn't have the same excited feeling like in the Fall, but we still had a good time. Aidan got to play on the playground, ride the hay ride, and the train. This year he was big enough (and we were brave enough) to slide down the giant slide together. Aidan didn't want to at first, but then he wanted to do it over and over again!!!!! It was pretty fun! Scary when you are trying not to go too fast while still holding onto your child for dear life! :) I think the slide was probably his favorite part!
After a few hours over there we went to get a late lunch, and thought we would drive down Hillsborough to "go back" to our college days and see how the road improvements turned out. It looks really good, and it should make crossing the street much safer for the students. College seems so long ago! Aidan was asleep, but we will probably go back soon and let him run around the campus and get some State gear from the bookstore!!!!
With it being Sunday, and Aidan's birthday coming up on the following Sunday we decided to try to do his birthday shopping while we were out. We went to Toys r Us, and Andy played with Aidan in the Thomas area while I shopped. Then we switched so Andy could pick out a few things as well. It worked out perfectly, and Aidan had no clue that we had even bought anything. While Andy loaded the truck, Aidan and I went to Party City to get a few last minute things for his party. He was beginning to get pretty excited!!!!!!
We were all tired by the time we got home, but it was a great day for all of us and I was so happy to be able to spend the entire day with both of my boys!
