Finally after a few misses we got snow on Friday and Saturday last week. At the time I thought it was unfortunate that it turned to sleet so soon, but considering it has taken until Thursday for things to get remotely back to normal around here, it was actually a blessing. If it had all been snow, we would still be stuck. Now that we've seen it, I am ready for it to be gone and anxiously awaiting Spring!!!!
We have had a dreadfully cold winter and it has been extremely wet. Everything is a muddy mess, and things aren't looking up any time soon. I am ready for Aidan to be able to go outside and play, and not have to worry about the weather!
Since the snow turned to sleet so early, we decided we better go ahead and make snow cream before it was nothing but ice. So at 9 on Saturday morning we got a bowl full of snow/sleet, and Aidan did an excellent job making snow cream with a crunch. He wouldn't taste it at first, but then decided to try it, and liked that it was wet and cold, but didn't particularly care for it.

Since it continued to sleet pretty much all day on Saturday and it was in the low 20s all day, I didn't want Aidan out in it. He had been stuffy earlier in the week, and we were able to get it cleared up with lots of orange juice and the humidifier, so I didn't want to take any chances! Sunday was absolutely beautiful. The sun came out (and the melting slowly began!!!), it warmed up nicely and Aidan was able to go outside to play. He wasn't sure about it at first because the layer of ice on top was a little tricky. If he stood still too long, his feet would fall through and I can imagine that would be pretty intimidating for a little guy! He played in his play house, and watched the dogs run around and then realized how much fun it was to eat the snow! He was eating it by the handfuls!
