We were able to make it to the OBX again this May and were so excited. We absolutely love going down there. I always say that when we cross the bridge everything else stays behind. No worries or stress about anything. We love it!!!!!!
We wanted to try some new things this time including new places to eat. We found great reviews for Blue Moon Beach Grill so we decided to give it a try on Friday night. It was wonderful!!! We will probably put that on our "must do" list for every trip down there! Aidan really liked it too. The waitress loved him and took really good care of all of us. The food was some of the best and freshest around. Sounds like I am writing a review!!! :)
Aidan's new thing is cutting the seeds out of lemons. ?? It keeps him occupied while we wait for out food!

Coloring the really cool dinosaur picture the waitress gave him.
He saw this shark while we were eating, and had to check it out. We tried to get him to put his head in the shark's mouth, but this was the best he would give us! Teeth are a bit intimidating!
We did some shopping after supper and drove by the Putt Putt place. We had planned to go on Saturday night, but the weather was good so we went ahead and popped in. Didn't realize since the "peak" season hadn't started yet that they were closing earlier. We took our time, and when we left we saw that they had already closed. Oops! They didn't seem to mind!
This place had one of the holes on a really cool pirate ship. Aidan liked playing with the cannons!
The next morning we got up and went to the new pier. This is the one that seems extremely safe to me, and I don't freak out about Aidan being out there! He liked hanging out with me while Dada and Wann fished. Didn't have any luck fishing, but still had a good time.
Looks like Dada with his hat and diet mtn dew! Not something he normally gets, but it worked in a pinch. Thought the pic was cute.
We always go to the aquarium every time we go to the beach. Love to check out the otters.
Still likes the sea turtle display but he was a little scared this time. Apparently last time a buzzer went off when it told him his turtle was sick, and he was afraid it was going to go off again. This time his turtle had been bitten by a shark so he had to learn how to treat it. He thought it very cool that they treat their wounds with honey. Turtle went to rehab and back to see healthy as can be. :)
We had seen a special on tv about the Island Farm on Roanoke Island, so we went to check it out on Saturday afternoon. The people were dressed as they would have been when the farm was still active and were very nice and helpful. Aidan really enjoyed seeing the different buildings and the rooms in the main house.
The ox named Charlie took us for a wagon ride. It was rather warm out and I felt bad for him!
I loved this chicken and Aidan did too. It was so pretty!
This room is above the kitchen in the separate kitchen "house". This is where the cook would have lived. Aidan thought the loft was cool!
Three-seater out house.
The family all slept in the same room, and Aidan was intrigued by all the different beds in the one bedroom.
They let Aidan check the chicken coop for eggs, and he found one! He was excited to get it out and take it back to the kitchen.
They also let Aidan feed the chickens. They really like to eat out of your hand, but Aidan only lasted a couple minutes! Then he decided to just let them eat out of the bowl. I remember getting the eggs in the mornings and helping Grandma feed the chickens, and loved it. I was glad Aidan got to experience it and enjoy it too.
