July 4th
This year we stayed in town for July 4th weekend, and were able to enjoy having a long weekend at home. The local community center was scheduled to have a family fun day on the 3rd with fireworks that night. We went that evening to let Aidan play at the park and found out the fireworks had been postponed until the following night. Aidan didn't know the difference and enjoyed a little bit of time at the park. It was so hot! We went back the next night and got there really early so we would get a good parking space, and so Aidan would have plenty of time to play again. He ended up playing for about 2.5 hours, and had a ball! He played on the slide and swings, and then ran the bases on the ball field with Dada. They shared a snocone afterwards to help cool off. By around 8, the park was absolutely covered up with kids (some who were too old to be playing on the slide). I wasn't sure how Aidan would deal with that, but he got right in the middle of them and did exactly what he wanted to do. He was not intimidated at all! A little before 9 we headed to the car and set up our chairs to wait for the fireworks. Aidan thought it was cool that we were sitting in the parking lot eating goldfish and crackers! He has talked about it several times since then. The last time he saw fireworks, he was terrified so we weren't exactly sure how it would go. We talked about it a lot, told him how loud it would be, but also really played it up. He loved them!!!!! He is ready to go again! We all had an excellent time!
